Kids On Map iPhone App Review

It is a dangerous world out there and with so many abduction stories in the news, you may be wondering how you can protect your child beyond simply educating them about strangers. Well, if your child has their own cell phone, then you will probably want to install a brand new app called Kids On Map for iPhone. This app actually tracks your child’s whereabouts, alerting you immediately if something should occur that has put your child in danger. The app works in conjunction with another app–the Kids On Map (children’s app), keeping you always connected electronically to your child through a GPS tracking feature. You can enter the pin number of your child’s app to see their location on a Google map so you always know where they are.

The child’s app is programmed with a red button that they can push if they find themselves in a dangerous situation where they need help. It sends an alert to your parent app, letting you take action at once to call the police, thereby taking advantage of those crucial moments that are often lost when a child is abducted or attacked. You can also provide the child’s exact location, giving law enforcement the ability to quickly reach the scene.

With this app, you have additional peace of mind, knowing that you can check on your child’s location at any time, and that your child can send you a message if something is dreadfully wrong.  You can also use this app, yourself, sending a message to a trusted friend, or family member, if something should happen.   This can be a great protection if you have been threatened by someone, if you are in a violent relationship, or if you are going through a nasty divorce and you are concerned about your physical safety.

  • no registration required
  • easy to use
  • view all of your children’s locations at the same time
  • emergency alert
  • can be used anywhere in the world

Kids On Map, version 1.0, can be installed on the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod Touch (3rd and 4th generation), and iPad with iOS 4.3 or later.  It takes up little space–1.7 MB, and is designed to lengthen your phone’s battery life.  However, if you run the GPS all the time, this can affect the life of your battery.  It is recommended that you should keep the app in the iOS dock to make it the most effective.  This app is free and available only in English at this time.   Users are rating it 5 out of 5 stars, making this an app that every parent, or person concerned for their physical safety, should have.

Trends in Online Education Apps iTunes U

Trends in Online Education

Distance learning has been an interesting area of education to observe. As computer learning becomes more prevalent, both small and large institutions are striving to tap into the possibilities of the platform. In the early days of online learning, the options were rather limited. However, the expansion of Internet coursework makes a post-secondary education accessible worldwide. The opportunities are exciting. One of the major benefits of online learning is cost. Students are able to remain at home while accessing classes via computer. It’s important to recognize that tuition is still required, but many institutions that offer online study are also able to accept financial aid in payment. Community colleges are taking advantage of the online platform for learning, creating affordable options for students interested in general study associate degrees. There are also many specialty associate programs available completely online. Students with limited incomes are better able to afford and complete online coursework.Computer study is providing unique benefits in the approach to instruction. Students that function well in an independent setting are especially suitable for online study. In some instances, classes are structured for students to complete at their own rate. A student can progress quickly through familiar material. Students that need more time are able to take their studies at a suitable rate.

. When a student struggles with a particular problem or concept, a tutorial can provide a means of walking through a problem step by step. The same is possible in language coursework online. Immediate feedback and interactive software can be much more effective at communicating a concept than a lecture, allowing students to try as they learn.

Online education creates unique opportunities for interaction. Whereas a lecture hall can be intimidating for students that have questions, online communities make it possible for students to post questions to message boards. Interactive live classes allow students to participate in discussion and practice without feeling intimidated. There are many benefits in allowing students to post and review each other’s work. The online scenario allows students already familiar with the tech platforms of the day to put their skills to work in learning subjects of interest.

Distance learning opens doors that are otherwise closed due to location barriers. Students can learn concepts and topics that are taught in some of the most prestigious colleges without having to leave home. Non-traditional students are able to adjust to higher education coursework without leaving their job or social setting. Those that may have set aside higher education goals in order to raise families have access to classes without having to give up their commitments to being at home to care for their young children. Distance education is changing the way that people learn and is opening doors for those that may have otherwise missed the opportunity to study college courses.

Online education spans a variety of courses and degrees. In some cases, full four year degree programs can be completed online. In other cases, a two year degree can open the doors toward transferring into a four year program. Some find the completion of a degree online sufficient for attaining educational goals. Others find that this opens doors in following a further goal. Distance learning can be expected to continue to broaden the horizons of post-secondary students.

Education apps will play a big role in this mass switch to online learning and we’ll be here to let you know about updates and new arrivals as they show up on the market.

Space Images iPhone app Review

Download the Space Images app today and see how incredible our universe is!  You will be blown away with how impressive and mind boggling these photos are!  This app includes photos of stars and planets that were taken by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory at NASA.  They are all real images and you can scroll through them as much as you like. You can also get images of planets in our own galaxy such as Mars, Saturn and Jupiter as they are updated by other NASA surveillance spacecraft.

  • You can view a variety of different images of galaxies that are millions of light years away
  • The pictures are in high resolution and are brilliant and beautiful to look at
  • You can go through the images and rate which ones are the best and also which ones are globally on top of the favorites list
  • You also have some search functions that are available so that you can find specific images
  • You can also browse  by category which includes galaxies, types of pictures, and much more
  • There is the option to view the top rated pictures out there as well as the newest pictures that have been added to the Space Images app
  • If you find a really impressive photo then you can email it to your friends and family or just save the photo on your phone to use as a background for your display
  • There are links on many of the pictures that you can click on in order to get descriptions of each of the pictures and you can also toggle resolutions as well

If you love learning about the stars then this app would be a good fit for you.  It is loaded with tons of cool space photos, and more are uploaded to the app all of the time.  It is fun to see these crazy space anomalies and then learn more about how they are formed.  The only lacking part in this app is the variety and depth of information that is given.  It would be nice to have a more dummy-friendly synopsis of each of the photos so that normal people can understand better how they are formed and what makes them look the way they do.  Overall, one of the better education apps out there about the mysteries of space.

Voted 3 1/2 stars by iPhone education app users and can currently be downloaded for free.
